The Shape of Quiet Things / What Quiet Things Become 2026
Smoke Fired Ceramic Sculpture / PoetryThe Shape of Quiet Things / What Quiet Things Become, comprises of a sculptural work and accompanying poem. The installation explores silence as a site of imposed condition and as a mode of resistance. It reflects on forms of knowledge that remain outside dominant narratives, particularly those shared through acts of care, protection and shared experience between women. Here, silence is approached not as emptiness, but as a material presence. One that accumulates, shapes and leaves its mark upon the body.
By bringing sculpture and text into dialogue, The Shape of Quiet Things considers how unspoken histories take form, asking what remains when a voice is denied expression and ultimately, what quiet things become.
Material Studies
An ongoing exploration of clay, surface, firing and form. These smaller works emerge through experimentation in the studio, from Raku and alternative firing processes to individual ceramic objects and decorative pieces.
